Yep, it's true! Susun has her own computer! (Cue gasps and speechlessness.) Yes, she sitting out at the kitchen table surfing happily away. I took a photo at 6:45 pm to prove it.
I knew she was ready for her own machine. She's SOOO happy to have it. You should see her smile glow. I told her a moment ago that she made tonight almost like Christmas. Well, heck, if it was Christmas, it sure would be a WHITE Christmas! Man, it's been snowing all day long. And it long ago blew far past what the Pokemon NWS wonks thought it would do. I reckon we're pushing six inches of true snowfall right now and there's no let up in sight. (Click here, do the math and see for yourself--all that precip has been snow.)
You know what this means, don't you? Yep, I'm gonna have to break out the snowblower tomorrow morning and go from sucking leaves to blowing snow. How ironically weird is that? Very ironically weird, lemme tell ya. The upshot of the past few days is simple: If we wouldn't have bought the Monster Leaf Sucker, we'd be in deep doo-doo right now. As it is, we're sittin' pretty and laughing at the snow. We've got all the Right Stuff here in Eye-Dee-Hoe! It took us a few years to figger it out but we're danged proud we finally got it right.
Today was the perfect day to hunker down and do something unusual. I just spent the last 2.5 hours scanning our Straw Bale House photo album. I can't tell ya how many times it's been lost and how many times it's been found. Every time it's lost, a part of each of us is lost, too. The last time it was lost, it really hurt my heart. I decided no more never again ever. So, I toughed it out and scanned everyone of the 95 photos. For good measure, I scanned some of then two or three times so I reckon I scanned roughly 120 photo views in 150 minutes. Do the math, that's about one a minute. WHEW! Later on tonight or maybe tomorrow between 5-6 am we will put them up on a Picasa web album. My favorite single photo of that epic process is at the top of this post. Some others are below. (Historical note: All these photos are from Summer 1994.)
I'm running right now on my old beater HP laptop that's going on 6 years old--it's the only one that runs a scanner worth a dang--figured I might as well blog on it, too.
Twitter continues to amaze. I think I learned more today than any other single day of surfing since the dawn of the internet back in the 1990's. Meanwhile The Goatherder (Yes, that's him at right in the photo up top holding a straw bale hook in triumph) put up a really fine wine post on his blog.

OK, we're back on the same time Arizona. It's a little after 6 pm as I write this. Wish Harry Olson well, think good thoughts for him. He's doing a Tweetup in Cornville--it started at 6 pm. Let's all hope it works out for this guy. GO HARRY!
Gotta run, Happy Hour beckons, Cheers,jp

Those two hippies on top of that pile of straw ain't got a single grey hair tween the two of them...I can't wait to see the album. Get it up there!
Oh HAHA great old pics!! I'm always surprised when I see myself on here! Big smile. I will try to send lots of photos to Mom on her email!! That should keep her motivated!!
Since I've yet to visit the straw bale house this was an awesome site to see with my sore eyes today. On a different not, I called you last night and someone with a hispanic sounding accent answered the voice mail on the phone. Did you get a new cell number and not tell me? Bad Johnny. I was calling to wish you a happy snowfall because I heard that there were at least 3 inches or more already there. We had our first frost last night so the geraniums and the petunias look pretty puny and frozen this morning. The chicken water was all frozen, too. They aren't gonna like molting with it cold. And I get my new furnace on Thursday while it's a brisk 40 degrees outside. Drive safely when you bail out for winter.
Very cool pictures indeed...can't wait to see the whole album! And go Susun! Your own laptop!!!
In addition to the arrival of J and S, we are scouting the skies for the first incoming geese. I suspect they're on their way now that it's actually kinder chilly. Those big flights of arriving geese are our signal that winter has arrived. Not that I particularly like winter mind you, but where are the geese? Now that Susun has her own Personal Confuser, please see that she gets up from her perch periodically to allow the blood to circulate to her upper body, lest she end up like the rest of us; too big on top and shriveled from the waist down.....
I remember coming down from Flagstaff while you guys were building this house. I thought it was so cool then, and still do now!
