The Straw House Slide Show
Here's the slide show comprised of all those photos I scanned the other night. There's 112 photos in the show--probably at least 15 are duplicates scanned at a higher resolution. I think there's actually 95 unique individual photos. I scanned at low resolution so you can't really gain much by clicking on any individual photo. They are meant to be representational scenes depicting the process. This morning, I actually wrote captions for ALL of them! Whew, it seems like I have been stuck at this computer for half my life this week. If you don't have Adobe Flash, you can click here to go through the photos one-by-one.
This has been a MOST interesting exercise and certainly puts us both in the mood to return to our little, much-beloved Straw House. Last year, as you know, we showed up to mayhem. This year is going to be a lot different and we are looking forward to it. Thanks for your interest in this show--without your various comments, I doubt that I would have taken the time to write all those captions this morning.
Cheers, jp

A herculean effort achieved in record time...no, not the house, the Photos!! Thanks thanks THANKS!!....
I remember I'd had to put a beloved old pet to sleep the morning we unloaded all that straw and you had to wait for me. Schlepping several tons of bales was exactly what I needed to do....I do believe a number of 12 packs of SwillWaukee's Worst were killed that day...this album is a treasure, thank god it wasn't lost for good.
Oh how I loved reading and watching this unfold. What an amazing feat! Such a beautiful testament to industriousness, being positive and hard working.
What great friends you have (and deserve to have!!)
Thank you for sharing this. It made my day to see it. Hope you will have many, many more happy days in your glorious sun-shine and love filled home.
Well, I will leave my lurking position and say something. I can remember the building of your house well. Brings to mind the building of our cabin. Different medium, but done in the same fashion. Glad "Last Chance" was returned to you. See you at Thanksgiving.
What an awesome slide show. You made me feel as though I had been there helping. Though I obviously was worthlessly doing something here in Idaho instead.
I look forward to sharing time with you and Susun in this magical place you call winter snowbird life.
TOTALLY ENJOYED the slideshow! I did feel I owed it to you since you watched my much less interesting slideshow, but I studied every picture and read every caption. I've been fascinated with the "Straw Bale House" ever since Lisa first told me about it but have NEVER seen a picture...let alone, pictures of the build! My handyman/craftsman side is reached geek nirvana watching it. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing!
WOW this dose bring me way back, Its not to long after we met at Randys up in flag,Dex was there to. ahh youth...
